Kayla Marie Wiberg
interior designer.

Hi everyone - my name is Kayla, a curious creative transitioning into the interior design field after graduating with my Diploma from the Visual College of Art & Design | Calgary Campus.
My childhood abroad fostered my appreciation for various architectural styles and exploring the different emotional responses space can evoke. My time in the elite dance community fostered a passion for collaboration. Grieving my aunt's experience navigating the public realm as a wheelchair user and seeing the effects of COVID-19 on the community abroad ultimately solidified my passion and commitment to social change through infrastructure. I believe our industry is about making a space look beautiful while empowering and uplifting individuals and their experiences in our world.
While completing Elvtr's Sustainable Design course with Tina Giorgadze (Perkins & Will) and Nick McDaniel (NBBJ), I hope to attain employment within the commercial design industry. There I can create impactful spaces built for the human experience while maximizing success for businesses and organizations.

The London Look

Planting the Seed...
My early years were spent experiencing London and the surrounding areas with my Mom, exploring historic sites, gardens, museums, and art galleries. Soon after, I enrolled at T.A.S.I.S, an international private school for young ex-pats built on multinationalism, cooperation, unity, and respect, I was surrounded by students, neighbors, and family friends from all over the world.
I would watch early 2000s HGTV television series while I did homework and decompressed after dance class. Looking up to personalities like Paige Davis, Genevieve Gorder, and Tommy Smythe, interior design programming became an escape for me. Eventually scrutinizing design choices, the seed was planted for my inevitable career in interior design.

CA-NA-DA WHAT?!
Dance has brought me numerous life-changing experiences from volunteering at long-term care facilities with a local dance troupe as a child to representing Canada at Hip Hop International in 2013, 2014, and 2016. With TwoFourSeven Company, we had the opportunity to film for TV's America's Got Talent and World of Dance Season 2. I would eventually join TWFRSVN's Leadership team for the 2019-2020 Season.
